Overview
The Build-Zone Structural Warranty for Completed Housing has been designed to provide structural warranty cover to those with a financial interest in a property that was built or converted within the last six years but that did not benefit from a warranty because it was not deemed necessary at the time.

Here are some typical situations where a Build-Zone Completed Housing Structural Warranty can be of assistance.
- Where a developer or builder was not registered with Build-Zone or other recognised warranty provider at the time of the construction.
- An Architect's Certificate was unavailable upon completion.
- A change of personal circumstance.

Procedure
You can start the quotation process either online or by calling the Build-Zone team. The quotation is issued in two parts. The first part is the survey fee and the second part is the anticipated premium for the 10 year cover policy. Initially, the customer only pays for the survey fee.

Once the survey fee is received, Build-Zone appoint a surveyor and the Completed Housing Survey is carried out (normally arranged within 5 days). The survey looks into the professionals involved in the project and checks any certification issued as well as assessing the design and physical condition of the housing unit itself, from a structural integrity point-of-view.

Subject to the Build-Zone survey being acceptable, the customer is then invited to incept the structural warranty by paying the premium. If the survey picks up on any problems, these will be highlighted with a view to remedial works being carried out prior to cover being offered - it maybe also be necessary to re-inspect.

A Certificate of Insurance is issued for 10 years from the date of completion. This is normally the date the that Local Authority or architect originally signed off the completion certificate. This effectively means that cover is provided for the balance of the term available.
