Overview
The Build-Zone 10 Year Structural Warranty for Self-Builders is an improved and re-branded version of the Self-Build Zone Warranty, which was first launched in 2003. It is designed for customers who are building or managing the build of a residential dwelling for their own use or maintained ownership. 'Build to Let' is also acceptable under the Build-Zone Structural Warranty for self-builders. A self-build conversion or extension can also be covered by this product. Under the self-build scheme, ownership must be maintained (ie. not transferred) for at least 12 months. Thereafter the policy automatically provides cover for "Successor in Title".

Procedures

The most important consideration when obtaining the quote is whether you want to utilise the Local Authority to do the building regulation (building control) approval and subsequent site inspections or whether you want the Build-Zone auditor to do it instead. We can provide this service for you and invariably it means that you end up saving money on fees as we are able to do the technical auditing function alongside the building control inspections.

Once you choose the local authority route for building control it is impossible to change back!
If you do end up using the local authority for building control - just select the technical audit option for the structural warranty. By getting a quote online, you will be able to see the difference in costs between building control and technical audit.
